Loop Phaser composition utility
Based on the concept of Steve Reich’s tape phasing piece “Come Out”
Load any loop and play it back at varying phase relations controlled by the 40h.
The loop is played (and looped) normally while a copy is played and looped at a phase relation dictated by the 40h. Selecting the top left button (0) will give a phase relation of 0 (the main loop is played exactly over itself). Selecting one to the right will play the main loop as well as the loop offset by 1/64 note (assuming the loop is 1 measure)
This program is designed to be a composition utility more than a performance patch. As such, audio recording functionality is included.
step by step instructions:
- open 40h_LPU.map with mapd
- open _Lph.mxb
- click “open” or press ‘o’ on the keyboard to open a loop, then press space bar or the “start” button (below the open button, not next to “save”
- use the 40h to control phase relation.
You also need 64button.abs.mxb. The current zip file should have this file, but if it doesn’t, you can copy it from the mlr or 64step folders
