This utility abstraction, iobox, has made it very easy for me to interface the Monome with anything in Max/MSP. It combines OSC routing and transformation of Monome’s native col/row/val into other data:
total cells on last cell on/off pad down/up midi note on/off (C-2 in lower left corner, D#3 in upper right) latch toggle for double-press on/off or one-shot bang for a random on cell basic clear all cells function sim_monome matrixctrl – accepts clicks and mirrors Monome presses. some amount off built-in feedback suppression
I have a few things I want to add to it yet so it’s only v0.8. If you’re writing patches already, or just getting started in Max/MSP now that you’re obsessed by this wonderful controller, it may save you re-hacking the wheel.
OSX only at the moment, but shouldn’t be hard to make work on XP.
